Joyce E's Story
Hi, I am one of the members of the Bongo Babes of Tech's talent show, oh what memories. Since leaving Tech I worked for 11 years,1 year at Jubilee City, 2 yrs at Ind Bell and 8 yrs at Power & Light , married, had two sons. I did not work for 12 years to rear our sons, while they were in middle school I went back to school and became a Legal Secretary, typed 100 words a minute, dictation at 100 words a minute didn't like it so I went back to school and became a Paralegal with designs on become a judge until I interned in the Prosecutor's office,well that changed my mind. I took my Paralegal skills and became an Environmental Paralegal then my career began, worked in an Environment Law Office, then went to work for the City of Indianapolis as an Assistant Mgr of Sewer Service Delinquent Accts Operation collecting delinquent sewer bills/liening properties, filed bankruptcys etc. After the City decided to give my office to the Water company I went into the Environment Offic...Expand for more
e during environmental legal briefs/OSHA compliance/land evaluation for contaminants. This became so interesting I went back to school and got my BS in Environmental Science and all I need is to finish 4 courses to have my Masters in Environmental Management. I became a Project Manager issuing invoices/environmental air quality permits, inspections, collected and issued invoices /tox drop removal/compliance inspections basically everything that applied to EPA Regulatory Guidelines that affected the City of Indianapolis i.e. govenmental or private industrial concerns. Took seriously ill, my health forced me to retire 9/30/04; doctor suggested I move to FL and here I am for the first time enjoying life, loving Nascar, never miss a race, have gone to Brickyard each year, Daytona 500 every year before moving and if I'm not home tape all3 races (cup, nationwide,trucks) plus working on improving my health. These are all the things I have done since graduation from Tech '64.
